A sacred destination to travel in Saigon

The Nha Rong Harbor was originally a large trading port in Saigon, built in 1864 on the Saigon River. Called the Nha Rong Harbor because there is a building with Western architecture but on the top is attached two dragons so it was called the Nha Rong Harbor. This was also the first French construction since the capture of Saigon.

On June 5, 1911, a young man named Nguyen Tat Thanh came down the Amiral Latouche Tréville requested to work as a vice-cook in order to come to Europe, marked the turning point for Vietnam’s national liberation.

Visiting Ben Nha Rong to admire the architectural features

Nha Rong Harbor is one of the rare French architectural works still preserved in Saigon. From the wharf of Thu Thiem or Bach Dang wharf to the other side of the Saigon River, you will find an ancient European architecture building combined. There are probably not many buildings in the country have the style of the “Western combine with Eastern” as clearly as the Nha Rong wharf.

Since 1954, after the French colonial defeated in Indochina, Nha Rong wharf was assigned to the South Vietnamese government. At this time, the roof of the house was remodeled, the two dragons followed by the “double dragon” moon was replaced by a pair of new dragons with pose back out.

In the years of anti – French and anti – Americanism, this place was chosen as the site of many demonstrations, strikes, meeting of Vietnamese people.
