Hanging around the city with SFDT

Date: September 27th, 2018
Time: 2:00 pm
Guests: Franziska Zerwas and her husband – Phillip, from Germany
Guides:Thanh Long Nguyễnn &Hoàng Nguyễnn
Pick up address: at Vy Khanh Hostel, 241/11/6 Phạm Ngũ Lão St, District 1, HCMC.
Hoang and I came to the hostel soon and picked up our guests on time. We introduced to ourselves and started our tour.

First, we were in Ben Thanh market and we let our guests know bout many things in the market such as fabric, silk, ao dai, coffee beans, filter coffee, etc. They were vegetarians so they quite weren’t keen on the food in the market. But they said that they tried some vegetarian food in Vietnam and they loved it.

Before coming to Ho Chi Minh city, our guests had been to a lot of famous places in Vietnam like Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, etc. When they came to Ho Chi Minh city, they wanted to experience with local guide so they booked our tour. Phillip told me that in Europe they also had some students worked as local guides and earned their living by that job.
After Ben Thanh market, we moved to Nguyen Hue walking street, the Opera House, Notre Dame Basilica, Center Post Office and final destination they chose Independent Palace. However, the Palace was closed might be because of presidential funeral, so we went to War Remnants Museum.

In the museum, our guests read carefully the information in those emotional pictures. Franziska told me that the elders in their family didn’t want to retell about the stories of war, history. Those were just bad memories. And I told her that sometimes my grandma retold me some stories about the war and the hard time they had been through not to remind us about their bad memories just the lessons we learned from the war.

To sum up, we got a lot of new things and experience from our guests after that tour. Our guests were so outgoing and friendly.
