 Chinatown in Ho Chi Minh City is also known as the name Cho Lon is largest Vietnamese’s Chinatown with roots dating back to 1778; it’s also a place of great historical and cultural importance. Chinese minorities hid here from the Tay Son and subsequently had to rebuild the area twice following attack with as many as 70% estimated to have died trying to escape on boats. Those who survived settled and began selling a variety of Chinese products. During the Vietnam War, Cho Lon was a thriving black market for US soldiers trading in American Army issue supplies. Nowadays, most of peoples living here is Chinese-Vietnamese (80 percent) also this area has a popular site for those on the tourist trail and also attracts many Taiwanese and Chinese visitors. Let’s get off of the tourist track with a unique journey through Cho Lon as known as Saigon’s Chinatown. Explore the vivid and distinct charm of this little-explored corner of the city and learn the secrets behind one of the world’s oldest and largest Chinatowns.



8:00 AM: Picking up and gathering at the meeting place.

The tour will start with a visit to Chinatown in Saigon, which is the biggest Chinese community in the South of Vietnam.

We will visit to two temples below:

  • Thien Hau Temple (Tue Thanh Hoi Quan), was built in the early 19th Century dedicated to Thien Hau, as known as Lady of the Sea. The pagoda is not only a valuable work of history, architecture, and sculpture but also an important religious site of the community of Chinese-Vietnamese in HCM City.
  • Quan Cong Temple (Nghia An Hoi Quan), Noteworthy for its gilded woodwork, itwas built in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, known as the biggest Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation in Saigon. Noteworthy for its gilded woodwork



Then we can have some local ice-cream near here. ^^

After that, we will visit one of two destinations below:

  • Binh Tay market: famed for its warren of food stands and grand Sino-French architecture.
  • Kim Bien market you can find many electrical appliances and electronics, cosmetics and clothing stalls here

These are the two biggest wholesale markets in Saigon, where you can find any kind of goods with reasonable price and see the locals bartering, purchasing and selling wares.

Finally we can enjoy Sui-cao (Chinese food). Some of ingredients are made of Chinese traditional medicine.  

The tour ends at around 12:00 PM. (or 5:00 PM)
